Send Speed Throttling

Send speed throttling controls the rate at which emails are delivered from your PostUp brand. Instead of sending a mailing to all recipients immediately, throttling allows emails to be distributed gradually over time.

Send speed settings are typically used to support deliverability strategies, manage large send volumes, or meet specific sending requirements.

How Send Speed Throttling Works

Send speed throttling limits the number of messages sent per hour from a brand. When throttling is enabled, PostUp distributes messages evenly based on the configured hourly send rate.

For example:

• If a brand is configured to send 100,000 emails per hour, a mailing with 200,000 recipients would take approximately two hours to complete.

This controlled delivery helps ensure sending activity remains consistent and aligned with mailbox provider expectations.

Brand-Level Send Speed Settings

Send speed throttling is configured at the brand level.

Each brand can have its own sending rate based on its:

• Sending volume

• Deliverability strategy

• Mailbox provider guidelines

• Infrastructure configuration

Because of this, different brands within PostUp may have different send speeds.

Considerations

Keep the following in mind when using  throttling:

• Larger mailings may take longer to complete depending on the configured send rate.

• Send speeds are designed to balance delivery performance with deliverability best practices.

• Adjustments to send speed may require evaluation of sending volume and infrastructure.
