Personalized Delivery Time (PDT)

Personalized Delivery Time (PDT) uses machine learning to determine the time each recipient is most likely to engage with an email and schedules delivery accordingly. Instead of sending a mailing to all recipients at the same time, PDT distributes the mailing across a defined time window so each contact receives the message when they are most likely to open or click.

This feature can improve engagement by aligning email delivery with individual subscriber behavior.

How Personalized Delivery Time Works

When PDT is enabled, PostUp analyzes historical engagement data (such as opens and clicks) for each recipient to determine the time of day they most commonly interact with email.

When the mailing is sent:

  • PostUp calculates the optimal delivery time for each recipient

  • The email is delivered within the time window you define

  • Recipients receive the message at different times based on their predicted engagement patterns

If insufficient engagement data exists for a recipient, PostUp will send the mailing using the fallback time you specify.

Enabling Personalized Delivery Time

To enable PDT when scheduling a mailing:

  1. Navigate to the Schedule tab in the mailing workflow.

  2. Select Personalized Delivery Time as the send option.

You will then configure the following settings.

Configure the Delivery Window

The delivery window defines the range of time in which PostUp can send the mailing.

Start Time

Use the Start Time calendar to select the earliest date and time the mailing can be delivered.

Stop Time

Use the Stop Time calendar to select the latest date and time the mailing can be delivered.

PostUp will calculate the optimal delivery time for each recipient within this window.

Configure the Fallback Time

In some cases, PostUp may not have enough engagement data to determine a personalized send time for a recipient.

To ensure these contacts still receive the mailing:

  1. Use the Fallback Time calendar to define a date and time.

  2. Any recipients without a calculated PDT will receive the mailing at this fallback time.

Optional Settings

Delay Content Assembly

Select Delay Content Assembly if you want PostUp to assemble the mailing content at the moment the message is sent instead of when the mailing is scheduled.

This option is useful when:

  • Content is being pulled using Web Fetch

  • Content files or CMS data may not be available until later

  • Dynamic content will be updated closer to send time

Sending the Mailing

After configuring PDT and completing the mailing setup:

  1. Navigate to the Preview and Send tab.

  2. Click Send.

PostUp will schedule delivery and send the mailing to each recipient at their calculated time within the selected delivery window.

Best Practices

To get the most benefit from Personalized Delivery Time:

  • Use a broad delivery window (for example, several hours) to allow the system flexibility.

  • Ensure recipients have sufficient engagement history for better predictions.

  • Monitor engagement results to compare PDT mailings with standard scheduled sends.
