Testing API Import Template Imports
The proper way to ensure that a site’s imports are capturing the right member information is to compare the data that the customer enters through the registration page against the data imported into PostUp.
Verify the imports are collecting member data.
The PostUp Imports tab stores the history for both manual and automated imports. The Import History section will display the results for any files manually imported into the client’s PostUp database. In comparison, the Import Templates section will only display the history for the site’s functioning import templates.
The first step in this testing sequence focuses primarily on import templates.
- Log into PostUp, per normal procedure.
- Click on the Import tab.
- Scroll down to the Import Templates section.
- Click on the View Import Template Statistics link. The Import Templates page will appear.
Click on the View [Import Template ID] associated with the appropriate import template.
The Title field matches the name specified for the import template.
The template’s import history will appear.
Click on the View [Import ID] link to view the results associated with a specific day.
The Import Status page will appear.
- Review the following rows to ensure your import templates are working properly.
### addresses were in the uploaded file
This is the number of records sent to PostUp via the API.
### new addresses were successfully imported
This is the number of valid records that did not already exist in the database.
### addresses were successfully added
This is the number of new addresses added to a specific mailing list.
- Verify the import results through the Recipients tab.
- Click on the Recipients tab.
- Enter an email address into the Email Address or Mobile Phone field.
- Click on Find Recipients. The Search Results page will appear.
- If the import was successful, PostUp will display the record under the Support tab and the record will appear in a "Normal" global status.
- When you pass specific recipient attributes through the API calls you should also verify that PostUp is capturing the correct information.
- click on the link provided under the Recipient ID column. The Edit Recipient page will appear.
- Verify record’s data fields to ensure PostUp is capturing the correct information.
- When using the Standard to Lists imports you should also verify the record’s list subscriptions.
- click on Edit, located under the Lists column. The Edit List membership page will appear.
Review the Status field to ensure PostUp captured the correct list subscriptions.
Note: records may show as subscribed to one or more lists, but also appear in a global status of UNSUB. A global status of UNSUB indicates the recipient will no longer receive messages.
