Creating a Super List
A super list is a parent list that can hold multiple standard lists under it for easy use, representing the combination of multiple subscriber lists (child lists) while maintaining its own unsubscribes.
Super lists are beneficial when:
- Looking to create a master database.
- Implemented as a type of query list.
- You have multiple one-off lists for campaigns and need to aggregate these into a single audience.
Note: if a recipient unsubs from the child list and is not on any other child list of the super list, they are no longer considered a member of the super list.
If a new lead list is added with an unsubscribed member, the recipient would be suppressed.
Example: a super list is used as an ad list that sends advertisements to a set of different newsletter lists.
All the subscribed members on the newsletter lists should be able to receive the ad.
If they choose to unsub from the ad, they are removed from the ad list and continue to get the newsletter(s) without any change.
To create a super list:
- Under the Lists tab, press the “new list” button.
- On the create list page, select the channel for the list and choose to:
- Create an empty list and add the subscriber lists later, or
- Populate your list using conditions to match.
- If you choose to populate your list using a query, enter your conditions to match.
- Press the next button to view a summary of your query. Press the next button to continue.
- On the list settings window, select super list from the list type dropdown.
Add a list name and friendly title.
Note: the friendly title is recipient facing and will replace the [-List-Friendly- Title-] mailing tag if used in an email or SMS message.
- [Optional] Include additional information about the list in the description field.
- Select the brands and list categories to associate with your super list.
Note: you can also select your brand and lists after creating your list by:
- Locating the super list in your list table and pressing the edit icon.
- Selecting the appropriate brands and lists from the options.
- Saving your changes.
