Time Zone Targeting

The Time Zone Targeting feature is the ideal way to ensure inbox placement for your subscribers based on their time zone. If you are already tracking location data for your recipients, the Time Zone Targeting feature can easily be added to mailings. Using this feature eliminates the need to send multiple messages by country or state segments, and also allows you to review engagement and delivery statistics by time zone for mailings that have Time Zone Targeting enabled.

Add Time Zone Targeting to a Mailing

1. Once logged in, click on the Send tab.
2. Create or edit a mailing, per normal procedure.
3. Click on the Schedule tab.
4. The Schedule tab will appear. Click on the radio button next to At the Following Time.
5. Click on the date and time box to change to the desired schedule.
6. Click on the checkbox next to Send in Recipients Time Zone.

Time Zone Targeting cannot be used on a mailing utilizing the A/B Split feature. Time zone is determined using the recipient data fields of Postal Code, City, State or Country. If these fields are not populated for a recipient the system defaults to the PostUp user’s time zone.

Sending Time Zone Targeted Mailings

Time Zone Targeted mailings will queue and send for a 24 hour period to hit each recipient time zone. During the time of deployment, the mailing will switch between different statuses on the Server tab. To view the current status of the mailing:

1. Click on the Server tab.
2. Find the mailing under the Active Mailings section.
3. Check the Status column for the current mailing status.
   • IDLE displays when the mailing is not currently sending.
   • SENDING displays when the mailing is actively sending to a new time zone.

Reporting by Time Zone

Mailings that include Time Zone Targeting will also have an additional report available to track delivery and engagement metrics by time zone. This report displays as a tab in the Detailed Mailing Report. To access this report:

1. Click on the Reports tab.
2. Scroll down to the Mailings section.
3. Locate the appropriate mailing and click on the Mailing ID link.
4. The Detailed Mailing Report will appear. Click on the Time Zone Statistics tab to view the results by time zone. The Time Zone Statistics tab will only appear in the Detailed Mailing Report for mailings that utilized the Time Zone Targeting feature.
   
5. From the Time Zone Statistics report you can:
   • Hover over a time zone to view its delivery and engagement data
   • Download the report into an excel file
   • Use the color bars at the bottom of the report to get a quick view of the time zones with the highest delivery counts. Darker bars indicate higher delivery numbers.
