Interest Tracking

Interest Tracking allows you to automatically add recipients to a mailing list when they engage with a campaign. Engagement actions may include opening or clicking within a mailing.

This feature can be used to capture subscribers who show interest in specific content, promotions, or topics. As recipients interact with the mailing, they are automatically added to the designated list, allowing you to build audience segments based on engagement behavior.

Interest Tracking works by associating a mailing with a list. When engagement is detected, the system adds the recipient to that list.

How Interest Tracking Works

Interest Tracking is configured through the mailing title using a specific format. The mailing title includes the name of the list that will receive engaged recipients.

When the mailing is sent and recipients interact with it, the system automatically adds those recipients to the specified list.

Recipients are added only once and will not be duplicated if they engage multiple times.

Configuring a Mailing for Interest Tracking

Follow the steps below to configure a mailing to capture engagement.

  1. Navigate to the Send tab.

  2. Create a new mailing or edit an existing mailing.

  3. On the General tab, locate the Mailing Title field.

Enter the mailing title using the following format:

Mailing Title++List Name++

Example:

Weekly Tech Newsletter++Tech Interest List++

In this example, recipients who engage with the mailing will be added to the list named Tech Interest List.

  1. Complete the rest of the mailing setup as usual.

  2. Schedule and send the mailing.

List Requirements

The list referenced in the mailing title must already exist in PostUp.

Recipients who engage with the mailing will be added to this list automatically as engagement activity occurs.

If the specified list does not exist, Interest Tracking will not function as expected.

Typical Use Cases

Interest Tracking is commonly used to:

  • capture subscribers who engage with a specific newsletter topic

  • identify readers who interact with certain types of content

  • build lists of highly engaged subscribers

  • create targeted follow-up campaigns based on engagement

This feature can be combined with segmentation and categories to organize interest-based audiences across campaigns.
