Forward to a Friend

’s Forward to a Friend feature allows you to include a form within your email content, prompting subscribers to forward the message to their friends. Friends who receive the forwarded message will appear in an Invite status within the database. This is a non-mailable status. Friends will need to opt into your mailing list in order to receive ongoing communications.

In order to enable the Forward to a Friend functionality, you must submit a request via the Client Support Site. Your site will need to be configured prior to following the steps outlined below. Your account settings determine your level of system access. If several of the options and/ or processes outlined in this document are not available to you, contact your site administrator.

Configuring the Mailing List

Please follow the steps outlined below to configure one or more mailing lists to allow public sign-ups via the Forward to a Friend functionality.

  1. Once logged in, click on the Lists tab.
  2. Locate the appropriate mailing list.
  3. Click on the Edit icon. The Edit List page appears.
  4. Scroll down to the Subscriptions section.
  5. Select Yes from the Public Signup dropdown menu.
  6. Click on Save.

Creating Forward Content

The following steps show how to create and save Forward Content using the Content Management System.

  1. Once logged in, click on the Settings tab.
  2. Click on the Content Management link. The Content Management System will appear.

Creating a New Folder

A folder may already exist if Forward content was created through the Response Content link. Once the Content Management System is enabled, will automatically clone any existing Forward content over to the system.

To store the Forward content in a separate folder within the Content Management System:

  1. Click on Create Folder. The Create Folder popup window will appear.
  2. Enter the folder name into the provided field. Click on Create.

Creating New Content

  1. Click on Create Content.
  2. Select HTML from the dropdown menu. The New File popup window will appear.
  3. Enter the content title into the File Name field.
  4. Select a folder to store the content in, from the Folder dropdown menu.
  5. Customize the Forward content by entering HTML code into the Content field.
  6. Insert the [-WEB_FORWARD-] tag as the CTA to redirect the Forwarder to the Forward to a Friend web form.
  7. Click on Save and Close. A confirmation message will appear.
  8. Click on OK.

Appending the Forward Content to a Mailing

  1. Once logged in, click on the Send tab.
  2. Edit or create a mailing, per normal procedure.
  3. Click on the Content tab.
  4. Select the folder containing the Forward content from the Asset Library.
  5. Drag and drop either the content’s Reference Tag or Snapshot into the content area.
  6. Complete and send the mailing, per normal procedure.

Form Examples

The following section provides examples of the forms and content both the recipient and their friends will come across when utilizing the Forward to a Friend functionality. You may add header and footer images, as well as background color to every landing page hosted by , at the brand level. To take advantage of this feature, please contact your Account Executive.

Forward to a Friend Web Form

If you include the [-WEB_FORWARD-] tag in your Forward content, subscribers that opt to use the forward feature within the email will be redirected to a page where they can enter the email address to forward to.

Invite Content

The following language will appear at the top of the email message, forwarded via the web form.
