Conversion Tracking
Conversion tracking allows you to measure actions taken on your website after a recipient clicks a link in your email.
These actions, called conversions, can include purchases, registrations, form submissions, or other important events on your site. By capturing this data, PostUp can attribute conversions back to the mailing that drove the action.
This enables you to measure the effectiveness of your email campaigns and understand how your messaging drives real outcomes.
How Conversion Tracking Works
PostUp conversion tracking uses a tracking image placed on a confirmation or success page on your website.
The process works as follows:
A recipient clicks a link in your email.
The recipient completes an action on your website (for example, completing a purchase or registration).
A tracking image placed on the confirmation page sends conversion information back to PostUp.
PostUp associates the conversion with the original email campaign.
This allows you to view revenue or conversion activity directly within your mailing reports.
Implementing Conversion Tracking
To begin tracking conversions, you must add a tracking image to the page where the desired action occurs (typically an order confirmation or thank-you page).
Example tracking image:
<img src="https://yourmailingdomain.com/cs.do?page=confirm&a=34.23" border="0" width="0" height="0">
Replace yourmailingdomain.com with the sending domain used for your PostUp mailings.
The image is invisible to users because it is configured with a width and height of zero.
Tracking Parameters
The tracking image includes parameters used to capture conversion information.
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| page | Identifies the page where the conversion occurred |
| a | Records the value of the conversion (for example, purchase amount) |
Example:
page=confirm
a=34.23
This example records a conversion on the confirmation page with a value of $34.23.
Conversion Tracking Domain
Your email tracking domain must match the top level domain of the conversion event.
