Alter Links Post Send

 

By altering links, you can ensure that your recipients are being directed to the correct webpage even if the mailing was set up incorrectly. Links can be changed at any point after sending as long as you have the correct permissions within

Once a mailing has been sent, it is housed in under the Reports tab. You will no longer be able to edit the HTML of the message, but you can use the link alter option to edit any of the links. To alter links:

  1. Click on the Reports tab.
  2. Scroll down to the Mailings section and locate the appropriate mailing report.
  3. Click on the Mailing ID link for the appropriate mailing. This will open the Detailed Mailing Report.
  4. Find the Performance section to the right of the page.
  5. Click on the link for the Detailed Click Report.
  6. Scroll down to the Individual URLs section at the bottom of the page.
  7. Find the link you wish to alter, and click the Edit Link option. The Update Link popup window will display.
  8. Enter the new link in the New URL box.
  9. Add a comment why you are changing the link to the Reason For Update box. This is a required field that is used for activity logs tracking when and why a link is changed. You will not be able to save the new link without adding a reason.
  10. Click Update to save your changes. Links are not always updated instantaneously and there may be a delay before the request is processed.

Tracking Altered Links

There are several areas of that notify you when a link has been altered. These include:

  • The Reports tab
  • The Detailed Mailing Report
  • The Detailed Click Report

The notification displays an alert symbol (yellow triangle with exclamation point), as seen on the Reports tab and the Detailed Mailing Report. More detailed information is available from the Detailed Click Report. To access additional details:

  1. Following the directions above, first open the Detailed Mailing Report, and then click on the link for the Detailed Click Report.
  2. Scroll down to the Individual URLs section at the bottom of the page.
  3. Check the Link Actions section to the right. Any links that have been edited will have a new action, the View Logs option.
  4. Click View Logs for the appropriate URL.
  5. The Audit Logs window will open.

From the Audit Logs window, you will be able to see:

  • The user who edited the link
  • The date and time it was changed
  • The original URL
  • The new URL
  • The comment added at the time of change

When viewing click numbers, all clicks on the link are aggregated to include both clicks on the original URL as well as clicks on the new URL. However, you can find who clicked on which version of the URL using the audit log and the click report.

To view which users clicked on a specific version of the link:

  1. Following the directions above, first open the Audit Log to find the date and time the link was changed.
  2. Click to close the Audit Log window. This will return you to the Detailed Click Report page.
  3. Scroll down to the Individual URLs section at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click the Clicks link for the appropriate URL under the Download column.
  5. This will generate a report of each click on the link. Click the Download option to pull the report from .The report in Excel will include:
    • The Recip ID
    • The Recip Email Address
    • The Recip External ID
    • The Click Time
    • The IP

    By default the report is sorted by the Recip ID column.

  6. Use Excel to resort by the Click Time column and compare the time the link was changed to find who clicked on the original version of the URL.
