Site

A site in PostUp contains your recipient lists, data, mailings, and saved assets such as HTML templates or images. Each site operates as its own independent database.

While you can create multiple sites, there is no data crossover between them. Multiple sites are typically recommended only when areas of your business must remain completely separated.

Brand

A brand represents the sending identity used for a mailing. This includes message characteristics such as:

  • Sending IP addresses

  • Message headers and footers

  • Subject lines

  • Link tracking domains

A site can contain multiple brands.

Recipient lists can be associated with multiple brands, but each mailing is sent under a single brand identity.

Campaign

A campaign is a folder structure used to organize mailings.

Every non-triggered mailing must belong to one campaign.

Campaigns help organize mailings, simplify searching, and enable campaign-level reporting.

There is no limit to the number of campaigns that can be created within a site.

Campaigns store:

  • which mailings belong to the campaign

  • engagement activity such as opens and clicks for those mailings

Mailings

A mailing is an email message sent from PostUp to a group of recipients. Mailings include the message content, targeting criteria, and sending settings used for delivery.

PostUp supports several types of mailings depending on how and when a message should be sent.

One-Time Mailing

A one-time mailing is scheduled and sent once to a selected audience.

These are commonly used for announcements, promotions, or special communications.

Recurring Mailing

A recurring mailing is sent on a repeating schedule, such as daily or weekly.

Recurring mailings are often used for newsletters, alerts, or regularly updated content.

Drip Mailing

A drip mailing is sent automatically after a defined delay following an event or subscription.

Drip mailings are commonly used for onboarding or welcome sequences where recipients receive a series of messages over time.

Triggered Mailing

A triggered mailing is sent automatically when a specific event occurs or when certain criteria are met.

Examples include sending a welcome message after a new subscription or sending a notification based on user activity.

List

A list is a collection of members, typically identified by their email addresses.

Lists are static, meaning that once an email address is added to the list it remains there unless removed.

Members can receive statuses that mark them as unmailable, meaning they remain on the list but will not receive mailings. A common example is an Unsubscribed status.

There is no limit to how many lists can be created in a site, and members can exist on multiple lists simultaneously.

Segment

A segment is a saved set of criteria used to identify a group of members.

Segments are dynamic, meaning their membership can change as data changes.

When a mailing targets a segment, it sends to members who currently match the segment criteria.

Segment criteria can include:

  • system-tracked activity such as Date Joined List or Date Last Opened

  • imported data such as a member’s City, State, or other profile information

Fields

Fields are pieces of data stored for each member in PostUp. Fields allow you to store information about recipients and use that data for personalization, segmentation, and targeting.

Examples of common fields include:

  • Email Address

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • City

  • State

  • Subscription Date

Fields can also store engagement data or information imported from external systems.

Custom Fields

In addition to standard fields, PostUp allows you to create custom fields to store additional information specific to your organization.

Custom fields are commonly used to store information such as:

  • Customer ID

  • Subscription preferences

  • Product interests

  • Membership status

Once created, custom fields can be used for:

  • personalization within mailings

  • segmentation and targeting

  • reporting and analytics
