Some email security systems automatically scan incoming messages by clicking every link in the email. These automated clicks can occur within seconds of delivery and may inflate click reporting metrics.

PostUp includes a bot detection mechanism designed to identify and suppress these automated clicks from reporting.

The system analyzes click timing patterns. When multiple links in a mailing are clicked within a very short time window, the activity is likely generated by an email security scanner rather than a human recipient. These clicks can then be suppressed to improve the accuracy of unique click reporting.

Refreshing Statistics to Suppress Bot Clicks

Once PostUp Support has confirmed that bot click suppression is enabled for your site, you can refresh mailing statistics to update your click reporting.

1. Navigate to the Reports tab in PostUp.
2. Select the mailing criteria you would like to view.

3. (Optional) Scroll to the bottom of the page and select 200 mailings per page from the drop-down menu to update statistics for a larger set of mailings at once.

4. Click Refresh Statistics.

PostUp will reprocess the selected mailings and suppress detected bot clicks. Depending on the number and size of the mailings, this process may take several seconds to complete.

1. Navigate to PostUp's Reports tab.
2. Select your mailing criteria:

1. (Optional) scroll down to the bottom of the reports page and select 200 mailings per page from the drop-down menu. (to update as many mailings as possible)

Reviewing Updated Click Metrics

After refreshing statistics, compare the Unique Clicks totals before and after the refresh. The difference indicates how many clicks were identified as automated and removed from reporting.

Tip: If the report is currently displaying total clicks, select Show Unique Values to view unique click metrics.
