Recipient Status Descriptions
Recipient Statuses
PostUp assigns a real-time status to every recipient record. You can view a subscriber’s status in the Recipient tab, when exporting data, or while previewing a mailing list.
A subscriber’s status determines whether they are eligible to receive future mailings.
The following statuses appear throughout the PostUp user interface.
Normal
Indicates that the subscriber is eligible to receive mailings.
Unsub
Indicates that the recipient unsubscribed at the site level and is no longer eligible to receive future email or SMS communications.
PostUp supports both list-level and global unsubscribes. Please contact your Account Executive for more information about configuring unsubscribe behavior.
PostUp automatically processes all feedback loop complaints as unsubscribes.
Optout
Indicates that the recipient explicitly requested to be removed from all mailing lists.
Held
PostUp sets a subscriber to Held if the email address generates either:
a single hard bounce, or
multiple soft bounces
Hard Bounce
A permanent delivery failure indicating that the email address is invalid. For example:
user@domain.com does not exist.
Soft Bounce
A temporary delivery failure that may be resolved later. Examples include:
mailbox storage exceeded
recipient mail server temporarily unavailable
Blocked
PostUp sets a subscriber to Blocked after the email address generates repeated block bounce responses.
Block Bounce
Occurs when the receiving ISP rejects the message due to an issue related to the sender, such as reputation or policy restrictions.
Marked – Marked 5
The PostUp Professional Services team may set a record to a Marked status when isolating data segments suspected of containing spam traps.
Users may also assign a Marked status to older data segments identified as having elevated complaint rates.
Temp Seed
Assigned to recipients used for test sends or seed list monitoring. These recipients receive test messages but are not part of the active subscriber population.
